Safeguarding
SAFE TO TRAIN.
SAFE TO SPEAK UP.
Everyone who walks into Radojunkie should feel safe, respected and listened to. This page explains how we keep young people and adults safe, and what to do if something does not feel right.
IN DANGER RIGHT NOW? CALL 999.
If someone is at risk of harm right now, call the police first. Then let us know.
OUR PROMISE
You Safety Comes First
Muay Thai teaches respect, discipline and control. We hold ourselves to the same standard.
Keeping people safe is part of every session we run, in our gym, in schools and in the community. It is how we coach, how we speak to each other and how we look out for one another.
We believe no young person should ever be harmed. If you tell us something is wrong, we will take you seriously. We will listen, and we will act.
WHAT SAFE LOOKS LIKE AT RADOJUNKIE
How We Keep You Safe
CHECKED AND TRAINED
Every coach is vetted
Anyone who coaches or covers a session has the right checks and safeguarding training before they work with young people.
CONTACT
Hands-on coaching is open and explained
Coaches explain any contact first, it happens where another adult can see, and it stops straight away if you are uncomfortable or ask.
HEAD INJURIES
If in doubt, sit them out
Anyone with a possible head injury stops training straight away, does not return that day, and parents or carers are told.
RESPECT
Bullying is never just banter
Harm between young people, in person or online, is never brushed off as part of a contact sport. We support everyone involved.
SPACES
Changing areas are supervised
Changing rooms and shared facilities are supervised properly, with same-gender supervision where needed.
PHONES
Phones stay in bags
During sessions, phones stay away unless a coach has agreed otherwise. Training time is focus time.
WHO TO TALK TO
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead
The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is the person in charge of keeping everyone safe. If you are worried about yourself or someone else, they are the person to contact.

WORRIED ABOUT SOMETHING?
What To Do If You Have A Concern
1
If someone is in danger, call 999
Safety comes first. Call the police, then tell us what happened
2
Tell someone you trust at Radojunkie
Talk to any coach, or speak to Andre directly. You do not need proof. You do not need to be sure. If something feels wrong, that is enough. Small worries count too.
3
Or email us
Write to andre@radojunkie.com with "Safeguarding" in the subject line. Say what you saw or heard, who was involved, and when it happened.
4
We listen, write it down and act
We take every concern seriously and keep a secure record. Sometimes we will ask for help from people whose job is to protect young people, such as Tower Hamlets children's services or the police. Sometimes the right step is extra support for a family.
BEING HONEST ABOUT SECRETS
We will always keep what you tell us as private as we can. But if someone could get hurt, we cannot promise to keep it a secret. We will only share it with people who need to know, so they can help, and we will tell you what happens next.
FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
This Bit Is For You
You have the right to feel safe.
At training, at school, at home and online.
If something is worrying you, you can tell us.
Any coach. Any time, Before, during or after a session
It is never your fault.
Whatever has happened, telling someone is the right thing to do.
You will be listened to.
We will take you seriously and tell you what we are going to do next.
